The Holland Building now known as the Miken Building as shown here in 2017 is  located mid-block on the west side of Fourth Avenue  between Union and Pike Streets in Seattle Wa., this  eight-story office building was designed and constructed in two phases with the initial four floors built in 1918 and the upper four floors added in 1923. It is assumed that the building was built and expanded for The Exeter Company. The 1923 addition was constructed according to plans prepared by architects Stuart and Wheatley.  In L.A. Martins Order book for the Columbia Terra Cotta it is order #102 Glaze 99, the Holland Building Seattle Wa. Arcitects Stewart+Wheatley.  According to an article July 7th, 1923 in the Vancouver Columbian: "With 40 percent of the moulds necessary for their first contract already completed,, work at the Columbia Terra Cotta Company plant, at the foot of west 13th street is progressing so rapidly that Manager M. L. Bryan declared today his company expects to start burning its first kiln of terra cotta by the latter part of the week. ... The job consists of all the terra cotta work for the eight-story Holland building now under construction at Fourth avenue and Pike street in Seattle. ... Bryan says "it si a good contract and, with the exception of a few pieces, the design is not particularly complicated ..." ..."The contract specifies cream colored, glazed terra cotta.  The contract specifies the first delivery must begin by September 22 ..."
