This photo shows both the Barnes building and the Lotus Building adjoining it with contiguous brick and terra cotta work. The Barnes Building was listed as order number 103 in L. A. Martin's order book for Columbia Terra Cotta Company in 1923. This was the second job the company has on record according to his order book. The order was for Crites construction company. It was right next to the Lotus Building. The lotus building would have an order the next year and the terra cotta from earlier years looks like both buildings are one, the cornice and other lines looking seamless between the two buildings.
