Notes about the Central Building.
A picture exists in the Vancouver Columbian 02/28/1927, Vol XIX No. 112 Page 5. Captioned: "Picture of the Central Building … erected by Pete Johnson. Photo by Schulz Studio". Building no longer exists. Columbia Terra Cotta Company produced terra cotta for the building in 1926. Order #173 Glaze 406. Vancouver Columbian Feb. 28th 1927 reported that the "Central Building at 11th and Main streets Vancouver had been completed. Declared to be "the best in the city"." In 1930 it was the office for Richard V. Gough and Day W. Hilborn. 1931 City dir shows Hilborn at 202 Arts bldg. but 1928 shows him at 225 Central Building. Vancouver Columbian Nov. 10th 1928: "Montgomery Ward and Company opened a temporary store in the Central Building; Vancouver; pending the completion of their permanent location on the south west corner of 11th and Main."
