Notes about The American Security Bank.

A picture of the bank was in the Columbian 02/28/1927 Vol XIX No. 112 Page 6, Captioned: "Photo by Reder Kodak Service. Just recently remodeled. Another building just to the rear was built by the bank at the same time but not shown in his picture." The picture is not detailed enough to see the Terra Cotta. The location of the building is now a parking strip and a highway entrance. Vancouver Weekly Columbian Aug. 1st 1918 "The American Security Bank was opened at Vancouver at 5th and Main streets." Vancouver Columbian Apr. 18th 1929 "The American Security Bank at 5th and Main streets; Vancouver; was closed by the State Superintendent of Banking." 1921 and 1928 city directories show The American Security Bank at "Main SW corner 5th" in 1931 City Directory there is a "American Exchange Building" at 410 1/2 main. Listed in Leonard Martin's order book for the Columbia Terra Cotta Company as order #183 Glaze: Green and Brown 8" x 8" tile 8" x 4" tile for American Security Bank ... Vancouver WA Approx. Late 1926 or early 1927.
